Flip Cup Game
Similar to other popular drinking games (involving your favorite auburn colored foamy drink), Flip Cup has been played on college campuses for decades. This game differs from Beer Pong in that it takes significantly less skill to play. In other words, uncoordinated people love it! It is a favorite of young adults (older than 21) and requires almost no planning or materials. You really can’t go wrong playing Flip Cup at your next party.
Setup for Flip Cup
To prepare for this game, you’ll just need to make sure you have enough room for everyone. Most people use an 8 foot table, but as long as it’s a long surface that people can line up on either side of, it should work. In its entirety, the game will take up approximately 10ft x 8ft of space.
Materials Needed
To play Flip Cup, you’ll need the following items:
- 8ft table
- Plastic cups (preferably SOLO)
- A beverage (beer or a non-alcoholic drink if you prefer)
Playing Flip Cup
Flip Cup is so simple, even a really tipsy person could play it- and they will! This game is a race — the purpose is for your team to drink all of its beer (or non-alcoholic drink) and flip their cups upside down before the other team does. To play, just split the group up into two equal teams and line the teams up side by side along the long ends of the table so that the two teams are facing each other. Each person will get a SOLO cup that is filled at least halfway with beer placed in front of them on the table.
When the organizer yells “Go!” the first person of each team will start drinking their beer as fast as possible. When a team member is finished their beer, they must then place the empty cup back on the table with the edge of it hanging over the table. They must then use one finger to tap the bottom of the cup up so that it flips upside down and lands on its mouth. The next team member may not begin drinking their beer until the person before them has successfully landed his/her cup upside down on the table by hitting/flicking/tapping it. Each team will go down the line of team members with everyone chugging their beer and flipping their cup upside down until one team reaches the last person. Whichever team finishes first wins!
