Salad Bowl Game
The Salad Bowl Game is a hilarious guessing game that involves elements of charades and some creativity! To earn a point, write down silly clues and try to get your team to guess it. This party game works best indoors.
Setup for the Salad Bowl Game
All you need to play this party game is a large salad bowl, lots of paper slips, pens, and something that can be used for a one-minute timer. If you don’t have a large salad bowl, you can also play with a big pot, bowl, or hat as the container. One of the best parts of this game is the creativity involved in preparing the clues.
Have each person take a few slips of paper (big enough to write 1-6 words) and a pen. For a longer game, take extra slips. Each slip is a clue sheet that will need to be guessed. Ask each person to write down a clue on each slip. You can write down famous people, celebrities, interesting places, foods, movies, even the names of your friends who are in the room. You can customize the clues any way you want! Be sure that each slip can be guessed by someone in the room; otherwise the game won’t be very fun. Once each person has written on each slip, fold them up and toss them into the large salad bowl.
Divide everyone into two teams. You’re ready to play!
Playing the Salad Bowl Game
Each team will take turns. One person grabs the salad bowl and stands in front of the room. There are three rounds of gameplay. First is the verbal explanations round; second is the charades (non-verbal acting) round; third is the one-word only round.
Start the one minute timer. For the verbal explanations round, the volunteer tries to get his or her team to guess the clue without saying the clue on the paper. For each correct guess, his or her team earns a point. You are allowed to skip a clue (if stuck) once. When time runs out, play goes to the other team.
For the second round, each volunteer acts out in the form of charades (no talking aloud) and tries to get their team to guess the clue. For the final round, each volunteer is only allowed to say a single word for each slip.
